I'm not a huge Candace Owens fan. To be honest, I barely know who she is. She only seems to get brought to my attention when she says something someone with a large platform doesn't like.
I'm not sure what she said and I'm not going to dig for it right now.
What really caught my interest is another knife in the back of civil rights and justice.
Every time something happens to a member of the Jewish community as a whole, there is a general consensus that nothing but sympathy or empathy should be felt and nothing given but support.
The obvious bias remains the elephant in the room. That elephant shouldn't be ignored.
There is a DOCUMENTED history of the torture, harassment, and terrorization of people of color.
I'm not just referring to the decades of lynching, bombings, and arson.
There is also the propaganda and scholarly contributions to various sciences to consider.
This version of "DEATH CON 3" is a historical fact and an ongoing string of what are now called "isolated incidents."
Yet, a person's whole career can be tanked by a statement that it not even directly a threat.
Candace Owens is not a dumb woman. I'm sure she has not threatened the Jewish community.
And even if she did, she needs to be in line behind a certain individual who incited a riot at the state capital.
She will have a long wait. There are so many individuals out there saying so much worse on a consistent basis.
And no, I don't think we should discriminate about who gets to suffer the consequences of their words. I think ALL those with unpopular opinions should be evaluated with the same criteria.
I think a measure of maturity is also needed. If you don't like what they said, then don't listen. You also have the option of defending your point on your own platform.
What is going on in the "media" is not a safe, healthy environment where ideas can be shared and debated.
What is going on is a "witch hunt" of key words and hash tags rife with SEO lynching.
How fast can we report a partial statement? How many people can we piss off and incite to the point of no return? How can we get so and so to "shut up?"
I'm not defending Candace Owens or anyone else. I am just saying that there is an obvious campaign against any and everyone who speaks an unpopular opinion to turn their brazen behavior into a cash cow.
Social media is being used as a tool to persecute and silence targets.
I'm not calling for any action other than those who seek to educate themselves control their opinions and actions.
Education is half the battle.
