" A helping hand is a helping had whether dirty or clean."
-Not to say that people can't change, but if the same hand that hurt you turns around and helps you it may not be due to a change of heart.
Many tyrants and oppressors use the "bite and blow" technique to build a loyal following of minions.
They may have killed your uncle but they bought your family a house. All you have to do is keep your mouth shut.
"Don't bite the hand that feeds you."
-This kind of goes with the one above. Just because someone is giving you a food doesn't mean they really give a fuck about you as a human being. ...*COUGH* the slave trade and slavery.
"Blood is thicker than water."
-Physically it is, but it can also drown you just like water can. I recently ran across an online article pointing to the actual meaning of the saying in the bible.
“The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.”
- "The saying means that chosen bonds are more significant than the bonds with family or “water of the womb.” More directly, it means that relationships you make yourself are far more important than the ones that you don’t choose."
"You reap what you sow."
-That is just plain not true. Yes you are more likely to get abundance from planning and hard work, but that is not what we really see happening is it?
We see people sow inequity and oppression all the time and receive riches and security in return.
I like what Michael Jackson said better: "Cuz there's a time where you're right and you know you must fight!"
